The rules for using SHOON. Written to be read, not to be survived.

Your photographs are yours. Using SHOON does not give us any ownership of them, and we do not sell them, publish them, or train anything on them.
Be decent to other people. SHOON has private messages and small groups. Everything on this page about what is not allowed comes down to that one sentence.
You can leave at any moment. Export everything, then delete your account from inside the app. Nothing holds you here.
You must be 18 or over. SHOON asks for your date of birth when you join and refuses anyone younger. We also ask Google Play to block people it identifies as minors from downloading it.
This is not caution for its own sake. SHOON holds photographs, the places they were taken, and private messages, and Indian law treats everyone under 18 as a child whose data needs a parent's consent. Rather than build a parental-consent system for an audience SHOON was never meant for, the app is simply for adults.
One account belongs to one person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it.
Your username is how people find you. Do not take one that pretends to be somebody else, and do not use one to impersonate a person or an organisation.
You own everything you put into SHOON — your photographs, your notes, your messages, your ratings. Nothing on this page changes that.
What you give us is narrow and practical: permission to store your content, to show it back to you, and to deliver it to the specific people you chose to share it with. That is the whole of it. We do not license your work to anyone else, use it in marketing, or train models on it.
SHOON is small and private by design, and the list is short. Do not use it to:
Every person and every piece of content in SHOON can be reported from inside the app, and you can block anybody at any time. Blocking takes effect at the database, not merely in the interface.
Reports are read by a person. If something here has been broken, we may remove the content, suspend the account, or close it. Where it is a close call we will lean towards asking first. Where it involves a child, we will not.
If your account is closed for something on this page, you can still ask for a copy of your data.
When you share a day with somebody, you are giving that person access to what is in it. They can see it, and depending on their device they can keep their own copy of what they see.
Stopping a share removes their access from that moment on. It cannot reach back and remove what they already looked at or saved. Share accordingly.
A community is run by the person who created it. They decide who joins and who leaves, and their decisions there are theirs, not ours. Everything on this page still applies inside one.
Posts in a community are handed out one view at a time and then expire. That is how it is built, not a promise about what any human being will do with what they saw.
SHOON is free to download and free to use.
Storing photographs costs us real money, and that cost grows with how much is stored. So we may in future set a limit on how much a free account can hold, and offer more space as a paid option. If we do:
SHOON is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and your content safe, but we cannot promise the service will never be unavailable, never lose data, or never contain a fault.
This is exactly why the export exists, and why we would rather say so plainly than bury it. If your memories matter to you, export them periodically. Insights will give you everything as a spreadsheet or a PDF, and a full-resolution copy of your recent photographs also stays on your own phone.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here removes rights you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be signed away.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete my account, or by asking us through the account deletion page. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, or that we are required to close by law. If we ever discontinue SHOON altogether, we will give notice and time to export before anything is switched off.
If these terms change in a way that affects what you can do or what we may do, the date at the top changes and the app will say so before the change takes effect. Continuing to use SHOON after that means the new terms apply.
SHOON is built and operated from Bangalore, India. These terms are governed by Indian law, and the courts of Bangalore have jurisdiction.
